Widows Society

Jesus Bride Widows Society was established in the year 2000, with the mandate to cater for the needs of widows/women living with HIV/AIDS, rape victims, orphans, vulnerable children such as street children and destitute in the society.

Many women are today widows and many children orphans. There are many more children living on the streets, while many are also into prostitution.
The death of the male heads of households in most cases could be very traumatic and painful. It leaves the women as widows and the children in many cases without proper guidance and direction.

Generally, such families suffer some level of deprivation and poverty; while the women are often at the mercy of the society. The male children may grow up on the streets and end up as pick-pockets and the female as prostitutes. This is because the widows often lack the resources to cater for the children and keep them in schools. This makes them all an endangered species and vulnerable.

It is unfortunate to know that the death of many male heads of households could be attributed to HIV/AIDS infection. This by implication leaves many widows and orphans as HIV carriers and victims of stigmatization.
